PepeMare’s story started in 2007. Elena and Giuseppe, a young Italian couple who had been living in Germany since 2000, decided to buy an apartment in Tortoreto Lido to spend their holidays. Elena and Giuseppe’s intentions were to spend their summer holidays as well as their winter holidays here (though many appreciate the beauty of the sea in the summer, only a few know how beautiful the sea can be during the winter season!), close to their families and childhood friends. The apartment they chose was perfect to accommodate their two young children, Leonardo, aged 5 and Riccardo aged 1.

Happy days. After furnishing their apartment, the Pepe family spent wonderful holidays and unforgettable moments here. The apartment, however, remained empty most of the time, since Elena, Giuseppe, Leonardo and Riccardo lived in Germany. So to give other families an opportunity to spend holidays and moments as special and beautiful as theirs, the Pepe family decided to rent out their holiday flat.

The start of PepeMare. In January 2009 Giuseppe, thanks to his a passion for the Internet and computer programming, created the website www.PepeMare.de. The adventure of PepeMare started here. The website was frequently visited and German tourists showed great interest in PepeMare, in the apartment in Tortoreto Lido and especially in Italy, which had once been a favourite destination for their holidays. PepeMare’s success was on their door-step: the owners of holiday apartments, residences and hotels interested in the German market turned to PepeMare. This family-owned business for which 8 people are currently working was established. Today PepeMare is also very successful in England, the USA and in many other countries.

The recipe for success. The concept that Giuseppe and Elena follow is very simple: the Pepe family offers a variety of destinations where they would personally spend time on their own holiday. Accommodations of above average quality, perfect for families, and with a great dedication to their guests’ needs. Places where families can spend moments of joy, strengthen relationships and get away from their everyday lives. Moments that will always remain among the best memories of the family. Hello everyone! I’m Elena, I love my “three-man” family, the sun and the sea, sports and constantly meeting new people. I studied Economics at the University of Ancona where I graduated in 2001, developing a thesis on e-commerce and its potential for businesses.

I then “ran away” with my husband to Germany, dedicating myself to my wonderful family as a full-time mum and wife. I could never have imagined that a few years later, my university notions would have adapted so well to the PepeMare business, which I created in 2009 together with my husband. Now I divide my time between my family and work getting a lot of gratification from both!

In PepeMare I’m in charge of selecting the accommodation, copywriting and persuasive writing. I give the “lost” tourist a hand with information, explanations and suggestions. I also make sure that his holiday turns out to be absolutely special! In the photo you can see me at work, I had just visited an apartment in Alba Adriatica, and then I treated myself to a pleasant walk along the seafront! Our Italy is a real beauty and not only during the summer months.

Giuseppe Pepe

In the picture on the side, I’m the one on the right, even though I’d rather be the one on the left :) I studied Engineering until I was 26, then I got my PhD in Electronics in Germany. I could have chosen a much more serious photograph of myself, posing with my best suit, but I thought it would be quite boring and not very appropriate to describe who I really am. I preferred a photograph in which I’m laughing and enjoying myself with my son Leonardo, both of which I do with great pleasure

I started working in the tourist sector when I was 16 years old: I was a waiter in a hotel during the summer holidays. With the little money I earned, I used to buy rock music CD’s and go to the disco with the guests of the hotel I was working for. I was a waiter until the age of 19, and then I decided to plunge into electronics and computer programming. They say that your first love can never be forgotten: well, I fully agree. Since I founded PepeMare I have gone back to the tourism world! I have also been able to combine my passion for computer programming to my natural inclination of socializing with new people. In PepeMare I’m in charge of the website, marketing and communication and the image of our business. I’m also a consultant for the tourist who’s looking for a destination and for the hotelier who’s looking for guests. I really enjoy personally meeting the families which have booked with us, and watching them have a great time during their Italian holidays. Could my 11 years away from home have brought me to love Italy so much?

We are the Pepe brothers: Leonardo and Riccardo. Nice to meet you!

Even though we are very young, we already play an active role in PepeMare. Riccardo recently appeared in the 2011 Christmas greetings flier/poster/greeting card. We both visit the apartments and residences together with our parents. In PepeMare we are responsible for choosing the apartments and residences suitable for children. When we go to a residence we verify if children could enjoy themselves, if there are any games and if the owners are nice to us.

In the photo on the side we are in the Civitella del Tronto fortress. Although we are very lively, we weren’t the ones who reduced the fortress to this state!!
